I gotta tell ya, Kerry Wood and Joe Beimel are looking even better now that you don’t have to lose any draft picks to sign them…

Heck, even Bobby Abreu and Pat Burrell look like pretty good options for left field until F-Mart is ready in 2010. I wouldn’t break the bank for either of them, but they would be less costly alternatives to Raul Ibanez and won’t cost the Mets any additional compensation in the form of draft picks.

Went to my first Mets game, a Mayors Trophy game at Shea, in '73. We beat the Yankees 8-4 and I was hooked. I marched in two Banner Day parades, and before the Grand Slam single, there was the "Hendu Can Do" grand slam - I was there. • SIGN ADAM DUNN!!!!!!!
For whatever reason, his market value is low, so he both won’t be too expensive and won’t cost any draft picks. He bring patience and pop to this lineup, EXACTLY what it needs. If Omar knows how to build a winning ballclub, we’ll at least hear a rumor that Omar was considering Dunn.

  • What about Dennys Reyes for the pen? He’s not that far removed from being a closer and would be a cheap 8th inning alternative to “Homer” Heilman. I don’t think Omar will go after Dunn, we have other pressing needs to fill. I wouldn’t mind having him though.

  • I’m with you Milo. We need to at least be considering Dunn. A good OBP and another power bat that could potentially replace Delgado at first if and when it comes to that. We keep hearing about the low batting average and the strikeouts but I’d rather he come up and strike out than hit into double plays.

  • oh great…exatcly what we needed, another left handed hitter to a lineup that only has only one right handed hitter, three left handed hitters, and three switch hitters. come on omar you gotta think big here (manny ramirez).
