What If We End Up Not Getting K-Rod or Fuentes?
If it’s one thing we can all agree on, it is that the top two closers on the free agent market are Brian Fuentes, formerly of the Colorado Rockies, and Frankie Rodriguez who we all know as K-Rod. I guess we are in agreement that the Mets desperately need a closer too. When it comes to the matter of signing K-Rod to a contract worth as much as $75 million dollars over five year, Mets [...]

Arizona Fall League Preview
Today, several Mets players will start play in the Arizona Fall League. I mentioned some stats about these players before, who are Dan Murphy, Eddie Kunz, Bob Parnel, Tobi Stoner, Jason Vargas, S Bowman and Thole. The big story line with these players is Dan Murphy who will be playing in the infield (most likely at 2B or 1B) which could be a hint at things to come in Queens for the Mets next year. [...]

Are Heilman, Castillo and Church On The Outs?
I’ve been reading some interesting rumors lately regarding some of the things we can expect from the Mets this offseason. Additionally, many reliable sources who have contacts within the Mets hierarchy, have been revealing some of the Mets’ upcoming moves. Mets GM Omar Minaya and newly re-signed Mets manager Jerry Manuel, have been carefully revealing what may lie ahead in recent press conferences. It’s no secret that both Jerry and Omar have had second thoughts regarding [...]

Mission (Not) Accomplished
Maybe I’m mistaken but when we made a managerial change on June 17, I thought the purpose was to get us into the Post-Season. When Omar Minaya fired Willie Randolph in the early morning hours and replaced him with bench coach Jerry Manuel, I, along with most Mets fans, were hoping for the best. We all thought to ourselves, ‘Good, maybe this is what we need to get us into the Post-Season.’ I don’t think [...]

Trading Wright is the Wrong Move
Earlier this week, Mike Francesa suggested trading David Wright because he is nowhere to be found in pressure games. This idea to me is laughable, mainly because 25-year-old Gold Glove 3rd baseman who average 29 homers and 114 RBI and hit over .300 in their first four seasons grow on trees. Don’t we wish? So I wrote a little something I hope you will enjoy. Omar Minaya sits in his office and watches as Shea [...]

2009/2010 – Years of the Gangsta
Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that Jerry Manuel has agreed on a two year contract and a team option for the third. The details of the deal has not been made public yet, so stay tuned for more. This news comes a few days after Omar Minaya says he will probably pick up the option for Carlos Delgado. UPDATE: FOX Sports confirms… FOXsports.com is reporting that Jerry Manuel will remain New York Mets manager [...]

Are The Mets Setting Their Sights On C.C. Sabathia?
There was interesting article this morning in the Record by Bob Klapisch, who suggests that their may be full-fledged bidding war between the Mets and Yankees for the services of C.C. Sabathia, He writes, The Yankees and Mets worlds are about to collide over their competition for CC Sabathia. The prize? CC Sabathia, who despite getting lit up by the Phillies on Thursday night is still the medicine both teams need to rebuild their respective [...]

Will Omar Deliver K-Rod To Mets Fans?
Sometimes the New York media can be too brash, overbearing and relentless in their criticism of the Mets players and management. But, every now and then they can be very useful in how they can put pressure on a team to react to the demands of the fan base. It looks like this offseason, the local sports writers will be driving home the point of why the Mets have to get Angels closer Frankie Rodriguez [...]
