Johan, Mets Still In Talk

You’re probably wondering if Johan is finally a Met. Well, he’s not a Met, not yet anyways. With the deadline passed, the Major League Baseball have granted the Mets 2-hours to finalize the contract extension with Johan Santana. Jon Heyman from SI.com reports that the Mets and Santana are close to the deal, but not close enough.

..don’t worry Mets fans. We have until 7PM to check on this. Keep it here for any breaking news.

From what I hear, Johan wants a little over $160 million and a guaranteed sixth-year, while the Mets are willing to give about $152 million. So, for the Mets, they’ll just have to hear and agree because Johan said he does not want to return to the Twins.
