Ledee In, Newhan Out As Mets Shake Things Up

The Mets announced that they have optioned David Newhan to AAA and called up outfielder Ricky Ledee from New Orleans.

Here is some of the text from their Press Release…

The New York Mets selected the contract of outfielder Ricky Ledee from New Orleans (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League today and optioned infielder/outfielder David Newhan to the Zephyrs. Ledee will wear #9 and will be available for tonight’s game at Detroit.

Ledee batted .287 (50-174) with 26 runs scored, six doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 39 RBI, with 18 walks and 37 strikeouts in 55 games with New Orleans this year.

Newhan was hitting .200 (10-50) with one double, one home run and four RBI in 41 games for New York this year.

I don’t know if Ledee is the answer. I hope he is. But it was clear that Newhan was not a good fit.

Let’s see how it all plays out after this three game series in Detroit.
